Lady Cats Take on the Founding Donors Challenge

While the members of the varsity Lady Cats basketball team are experts at handling challenges on the court, these athletes tackled a challenge of another kind with ease earlier this month. The Lady Cats accepted the Krum ISD Education Foundation’s challenge to donate $100 to the Founding Donors Campaign.

Head Coach Lana Degelia, assistant coaches Bryan Gaines and Cody Wilson, along with the team, presented a check to Foundation President Daryl Shelton on Dec. 2 at Krum High School.

“These athletes define hard work and dedication, and it shows by how they play on the court and how they perform in the classroom,” said Shelton. “As a foundation, it is our goal to bring that same level of commitment to our mission – bringing stakeholders together to financially support exceptional educational experiences. ”

The Foundation aims to raise $250,000 by the end of the Founding Donors Campaign, Dec. 31. In just three months, the Krum community and area businesses have donated $189,000. The KHS varsity girls basketball team is just one more example of a group that is helping the Foundation reach its goal.

“I challenge other student and community groups to help the Foundation reach its goal before the end of December,” said Shelton. “With these donations, the Foundation will provide funds for enrichment purposes in designated educational program areas not otherwise funded by the district.”

Those who give $100 or more to the Foundation before Dec. 31 will be recognized for their gift permanently on a monument that will be erected in 2016 in front of the Krum Performing Arts Center. Donors will also be recognized on the Foundation’s Facebook page and website.

Cash, check, and credit card donations are accepted. Mail donations to The Krum ISD Education Foundation, 1200 Bobcat Blvd., Krum Texas 76210, or give online at www.krumisdeducationfoundation.org. For more information, visit the Foundation’s website, Facebook page, or call (940) 482-2706.
