2016 GRANT RECIPIENTS

The Krum Education Foundation awarded $81,078.33 to Krum ISD educators during the district’s end-of-year awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 1, at the Krum Performing Arts Center.

LIST OF RECIPIENTS

The fourth-grade department was awarded $5,000 for the grant entitled, “Reading with ‘Raz’.” Grant writers include fourth-grade teachers Brittany Hensley, Lisa Goff, and Kelli Lawrence. This grant was made possible through a $5,000 donation from Coserv, and representatives Craig Chambers and Carrie Thomas helped announce the recipients during the awards ceremony.

 

Kindergarten teaching team Megan Smith and Donna Hesters were awarded $2,794 for their grant entitled, “Launching Little Learners.”

 

Kindergarten teacher Sarah Yanez was awarded $1,257.21 for her grant entitled, “Technology for Young Learners.”

 

First-grade teaching team Jennifer Newcomb and Elizabeth Zepeda were awarded $4,716 for their grant entitled,”Touch Technology for Tiny Fingers.”

 

Fourth-grade teaching team Lisa Goff and Brittany Hensley were awarded $4,716 for their grant entitled, “ The Chromebook Chronicles.”

 

Hattie Dyer Elementary School was awarded $4,941.12 for the grant entitled, “Passion-ful Purpose Genius Hour Initiative.” Grant writers include second-grade teachers Marian Martin, Kim Reed, Kara Woodard, and campus principal Lindsey Boone.

 

Blanche Dodd Intermediate School was awarded $10,000 for the grant entitled, “Chromebooks for our Digital Natives.” Grant writers include fifth-grade teacher Lauren Belaid and technology teacher Julie Nabors.

 

Finally, the district was awarded $37,754 for the grant entitled, “Digital Learning in Innovative Spaces.” Grant writers include Assistant Superintendent Nancy Shipley and Instructional Technologist Lyndi Stupka.

 

The Krum Middle School English and Language Arts department was awarded $2,000 for the grant entitled, “ELA Revival.” Grant writers include KMS teachers Tara Hartford and Tera Riney.

 

The second-grade department was awarded $4,900 for the grant entitled, “Using iPods for Updated Listening Stations.” Grant writers include second-grade teachers Kara Woodard, Marian Martin, Penny Hall, Kim Reed, Ashley Thorpe, and Michele Dillion.

 

Blanche Dodd Intermediate School was awarded $3,000 for the grant entitled, “Leveled Reading Library.” The grant was written by campus dyslexia specialist Kristen Blocker.
