GRANT APPLICATION DOCUMENTS

All documents to apply for each type of grant or scholarship are provided below. All forms listed under each type of grant or scholarship should be completed in accordance with grant/scholarship guidelines.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT GRANT

Guidelines for Application

 

Please read carefully to fully understand guidelines and expectations. ​ Description and Eligibility: KEF Student Enrichment Grants are available to all Krum ISD students in grades K-12, provided the opportunity is completed prior to graduation. This grant initiative provides funds to K-12 students or student groups for student enrichment learning opportunities and/or activities that complement the District’s core areas of learning: English Language Arts, Math, Science, History, Foreign Language & Arts (examples: Spanish, Art, Drama, Music), and Career & Technology (examples: Ag Science, Cosmetology, Mechanics, Welding). Examples of applications that will be considered: • Field trips to museums, exhibits, or special learning/education events • Summer camp for STEAM education • Music education course or camp • Livestock judging camp • Sports medicine training camp • IT certification training course and exam cost • Dual credit tuition • Advanced placement testing fees • Career & technology curriculum tuition and supplies Examples of applications that will not be considered: • Athletic or cheerleading camps • FFA or FCCLA retreats and conferences • Marching band or color guard camp Award Range: The number of initiatives funded will depend upon available funds with a total allocation of no more than $5,000 per funding year and a maximum grant of $500 per student per 12 month rolling window. Simultaneous funding of projects for the same individual will not occur. The award may cover some travel. Application Deadlines: There are two application time periods per funding year. • 1st Friday in February with notification by May 15th • 1st Friday in October with notification by January 15th Applications are due by 4:00pm of deadline day. Notification of Recipients: Recipients of grant awards will be notified by mail. Depending on the timing of the decision, the award(s) may also be announced at public events, e.g. end of year award ceremony. Notification of Non-Awards: Unfortunately, the Foundation is unable to award all applications submitted for funding consideration. Grant applicants not receiving funding will receive a written notification before the notification date. Applicants can obtain insight on specific reasons reflected in scoring and suggestion(s) for re-submission of application in next funding cycle by contacting the Foundation at contact@krumisdeducationfoundation.org. Date for Awarding Funds: Funds awarded directly to students will be released upon receipt of appropriate documentation. If awarded for a future event, the Foundation will submit payment directly to the vendor on behalf of the grant recipient. If awarded for a past event, the Foundation will submit payment directly to the grant recipient after appropriate proof/documentation has been received, e.g. enrollment payment receipt. Length of Project: The projects are funded for twelve (12) months. Any unexpended funds will revert to the Krum ISD Education Foundation at the conclusion of the twelve (12) month period. Withdrawal / Departure from District: Should the recipient withdraw from the District prior to completing the project or utilizing the funds awarded, the unexpended funds will revert to the Krum ISD Education Foundation immediately upon withdrawal. Proposal Review: Grant applications will be reviewed competitively by the Programs and Allocations Committee. Proposals will be subject to number-coded, blind review relative to applicant(s).

TECHNOLOGY GRANT

Guidelines for Application

 

Please read carefully to fully understand guidelines and expectations. Only grant requests for technology that supplement and align with the District’s Improvement Plan will be considered. The number of grants awarded will depend upon available funds. Technology Grants Up to $50,000 per district; $15,000 per campus; $5,000 per team; and $1,500 per instructional staff. The purposes of Technology Grants are to provide funds to enhance existing technology, acquire new technology, and develop the skills to leverage that technology in support of education reforms and student achievement. Opportunities may include: • Integrated Classroom Technology • Tablets: One-to-One Technology • Software and Equipment Application Deadline: Annual grant applications are due before 4:00 p.m. on on the 1st Friday in February. Notification of Recipients: Annual recipients will be notified during the KISD end-of-year ceremony. Date for Awarding Funds: Funds for approved annual applications are deposited during the first month of the next fiscal year. Funds will be deposited in the District Account for each recipient and will be administered by the KISD Central Office. Any unexpended funds will revert to the Foundation after the conclusion of the grant project. Applicant Eligibility: • Grant funds are limited to Krum ISD certificated employees. • In the case of a Department/Building/District proposal, a Project Director must be designated to assume overall administrative responsibility for the grant project, and all related correspondence will be so directed. • The approval of the immediate supervisor of the applicant(s) is required for the application to be considered. • Grant funds will only be awarded to grant projects that directly benefit academic instruction. Recipient Requirements: • Recipients must adhere to all District financial guidelines and policies. • If the grant application is approved, any change to the budget amount approved or expenditure for items other than those requested must be submitted to the Foundation Board for approval. • Products/equipment purchased with grant funds become the property of the District. Reporting Requirements (if not met, future eligibility may be jeopardized): • Recipients will be required to notify KEF of the expenditure when the funds are spent and to provide a list of materials purchased. • Recipients must present the project to their own Campus during the implementation year. • Recipients must also make a presentation (project, progress, outcomes) to the Foundation. This presentation may be at a Board meeting, a Committee meeting, or a campus visit by Board and/or Committee members. Project Eligibility: • The identified need must complement the District mission and Improvement Plan and be aligned with the District’s curriculum goals. • The grant project must have a designated time frame for completion. • The grant project must have measurable objectives. • Funds may not replace normal funding from tax-based sources. • The proposal must describe how the success of the project will be evaluated. Application Review Process: • Proposals shall be competitively reviewed by a designated Foundation Committee. • Projects will be judged based on their potential to positively impact instruction and academic achievement. • All proposals will be subject to a blind review relative to the applicant(s). • Before review by the Foundation, the assistant superintendent or designee will evaluate projects for compliance with the District’s Improvement Plan. The review is not for selection of recipients. • In the event that a Grant Recipient is reassigned to another campus or district, the KEF Board of Directors will review the grant to determine if funds will be redistributed or if the grant will be discontinued. Application Requirements: To be considered for funding, the application must: • Be grammatically correct and free of spelling errors. • Be complete (all sections). • Be free of any identifying information (i.e., applicant or school names) other than on the cover page. • Describe some method to evaluate the success of the project. • Be in compliance and approved (submitted by the foundation director) by assistant superintendent or designee.

INSTRUCTIONAL INITIATIVE

Instructional Initiatives Up to $5,000 per campus; $3,000 per team; and $1,000 per instructional staff. The purpose of Instuctional Initiatives is to provide funds to support educators with instructional projects and pursuits that supplement and align with the District and/or Campus Improvement Plan. TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP GRANT

Guidelines for Application

 

Please read carefully to fully understand guidelines and expectations. Only grant requests for continuing education that supplement and align with the District’s Improvement Plan will be considered. Award Range: Up to $1500 for an individual teacher or educational paraprofessional. The Teacher Scholarship Grant is intended to provide funds to support educators in advancing their value to the district through training, certifications, and higher education. Opportunities may include, but are not limited to, state certifications and higher education tuition. This grant will not be awarded for training or continuing education toward completion of administrator’s or counselor’s coursework and/or certification. The number of grants funded will depend upon available funds and Krum ISD Education Foundation guidelines for the calendar year with a maximum of $5,000 per year. This is a reimbursement grant. Application Deadline: First Friday in February before 4:00pm. Applicant Eligibility: • Grants are limited to Krum ISD Educators, (including educational paraprofessionals) who are currently employed in the District, have taught a minimum of two (2) consecutive years in the District and who are pursuing additional education in the teaching profession. • Applicants must have demonstrated the following: outstanding teaching ability; participation in school and community organizations and activities; and, leadership ability. • Grant funds will only be awarded for learning programs that directly benefit academic instruction. Recipient Requirements: • Recipients must adhere to all District financial guidelines and policies. • If the grant application is approved, any change to the budget amount approved or expenditure for items other than those requested must be submitted to the Foundation Programs and Allocations Committee for consideration. Reporting Requirements (if not met, future eligibility may be jeopardized): • Recipients must present the project to their own Campus during the implementation year. • Recipients must also make a presentation (project, progress, outcomes) to the Foundation. This presentation may be at a Board meeting, a Committee meeting, or a campus visit by Board and/or Committee members. Additional Requirements: • The teacher scholarship grant proposal must contain the required grant application and two reference letters from individuals who are not related to the applicant. It is recommended that these reference letters are completed by a team leader, department head, etc. and contain education-focused observations of the applicant’s knowledge, education experience, etc. The reference letter author and applicant should have a recent working relationship, i.e. within five years of the application date. The relationship between the reference letter author and the applicant should be clearly specified in the content of each reference letter. • The applicant is also required to submit a brief essay on why s/he is pursuing these particular course(s) and why the Foundation should assist s/he in funding. • One confidential evaluation must be completed on behalf of the applicant. This evaluation must be completed by the applicant’s supervisor (e.g. campus principal) or other Campus/District administrator. Project Eligibility: • All proposed teacher scholarship grants must address needs, challenges, and concerns to enhance the learning experience. Grant proposals will be judged based on potential impact to classroom instruction. • The identified coursework must complement the District Mission and its Improvement Plan and be aligned with the District’s curriculum goals. • The grant coursework must have a designated time frame for completion and must have a measurable outcome (e.g. certificate of completion). • Funds may not replace normal funding from tax-based sources. • Grants may cover travel, consulting fees/honorariums, etc., but expenses must also be justifiable. Notification of Recipients and Payment: Recipients will be notified prior to the end of the school year. If awarded, the grant check will be written to the awardee upon successful completion of the course/learning experience and proper documentation (recipients). Length of Project: The award is available to be funded for twelve (12) months. Any unexpended funds will revert to the Krum ISD Education Foundation at the conclusion of the twelve (12) month period. Application Requirements: To be considered for funding, the application must: • Be grammatically correct and free of spelling errors. • Be complete (all sections). • Be free of any identifying information (i.e. applicant or school names) other than on the cover page. • Describe the expected outcome of the coursework (e.g. certificate of completion). • Be in compliance and approved by assistant superintendent or designee. Application Review Process: • Proposals shall be competitively reviewed by the Programs and Allocations Committee. • Projects will be judged based on their potential to positively impact instruction and academic achievement. • All proposals will be subject to a blind review relative to the applicant. • Before review by the Foundation, the assistant superintendent or designee will evaluate projects for compliance with the District’s Improvement Plan. The review is not for selection of recipients.

Please read carefully to fully understand guidelines and expectations. Krum ISD Education Foundation is pleased to sponsor several scholarships for the graduating seniors of Krum High School. Each of these scholarships is one-time, $1000 award. This KEF Consolidated Application is to be used to apply to any or all of the scholarships in the KEF offering. As some sections of the application are specific to an individual scholarship or group of scholarships, it is critical that you read the application carefully. To apply for ANY scholarship, you will need at least the following: • Completed scholarship application • High school transcript including SAT/ACT scores • One letter of recommendation from a person (not current KISD employees or family) familiar with you, your character, your work, and/or your experiences. Please note, only one letter of recommendation is required regardless of the number of applications submitted. • Essay • Current resume (only needed for KEF Senior Scholarship) To be eligible for ANY scholarship, you must at least: • Be a graduating Krum High School senior who plans to continue your education at an accredited post- secondary institution (college, trade school, university, etc.) Applications are reviewed by the Krum ISD Education Foundation and its designated Committee(s). The application review process is a “blind review” process. The deadline to submit your application is the first Friday of February.
