Furthering Education through Teacher and Campus Grants

KISD’s annual end-of-year awards assembly was held on Friday, May 24, in the Performing Arts Center at Krum High School. Krum ISD Education Foundation board members Bret McDaniel, Dan Reed, Stacy McDaniel attended the ceremonies to present the 2019 grants for Technology and Instructional Initiatives. Educator Sabrina Hendrickson at the Krum Early Education Center was awarded an Instructional Initiative Grant in the amount of $985 titled “Character Counts” for a school wide character and anti-bullying education assembly. Teachers Lisa Mayfield and Tricia Banks of Blanche Dodd Intermediate School and Krum Middle School were awarded an Instructional Initiative Grant titled “Tap and Think Readi

Grant Outcome Series: Flexible Seating for Flexible Learners

Some students have a lot of energy. For some of these students, all this energy makes it hard to sit and focus on their work. Through a grant from the Krum ISD Education Foundation, students in Mrs. Middleton’s class at Blanche Dodd Intermediate have the option of flexible seating arrangements. They can choose between stand up desks, exercise balls, cushions, and chair bands. Mrs. Middleton says every student is different, and some seats and desks work better than others depending on the child. Since implementing these seating options for her students, she says she has seen a drastic decline in fidgeting. Students being more comfortable has made them more attentive, efficient pupils.

KEF Turns Out to Support Krumtry Fest

Krum ISD Education Foundation volunteers helped over 60 booth vendors pack up their wares and then carry everything out to their vehicles at the 2019 Krumtry Fest community event. This was especially appreciated because it was very rainy day. After the spaces were cleared, we worked together to sweep the entire school cafeteria and gym, set up the cafeteria with the lunch tables, pick up trash and debris inside and outside the school, and clean the bathrooms. This was a great project, because everyone could help. We had very young children pulling up the painters tape from the floors that had marked booth spaces. 2019 High School Student Enrichment Grant Awards

The Krum ISD Education Foundation is excited to announce our Student Enrichment Grant winners for 2019 at Krum High School! Nina Alambar, Devyn Lucas, and Victoria Sprague received funding for their Dual Credit Courses! Levi Nelson was awarded funding to attend the Gerts Ongoing Advanced Leadership Summit: G.O.A.L.S. this summer! Congratulations to these deserving students!

2019 KEF Senior Scholarship

Congratulations to Justin Kragh on being awarded the inaugural KEF Senior Scholarship Award at Monday's Senior Awards Night. This scholarship will be awarded annually to awarded annually to a graduating KHS senior who plans to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited institution, and is made possible by the generous contribution of our donors!

2019 McBride Health Sciences Scholarship

Congratulations to Madeline Murray on being awarded the inaugural McBride Health Sciences Scholarship Award at Monday's Senior Awards Night. This scholarship will be awarded annually to awarded annually to a graduating KHS senior who plans to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited institution in a recognized health sciences field.. It is thank to a generous endowment by the McBride family that we are able to launch this new scholarship opportunity!

2019 Janeda Peploe Scholarship Award

On May 13, 2019, KEF Chairman Stacy McDaniel announced Ms. Hadley Brooks as the 2019 Janeda Peploe Scholarship recipient. Mrs. Kelsi Bannahan and Mr. Bret McDaniel presented the $1000 scholarship to Ms. Brooks during the 2019 KHS Academic Awards and Senior Night Ceremony. The Janeda Peploe Memorial Scholarship was established through a generous endowment by Mrs. Loretta Powers, a KISD alumnus and former student of Ms. Peploe. Mrs. Powers joined the Foundation representatives on stage to present Ms. Brooks with her award. Ms. Peploe was honored and remembered for her commitment to education and to the students of KISD.
